#TeachersCount Program to reduce risk by creating safer classrooms
Atlanta– February 5, 2021- During the COVID-19 pandemic, Educators continue to be on the front lines of balancing personal / classroom safety and effective teaching.
Since the US has over 2,000 diverse counties, many educators work in schools with inadequate funding, inconsistent procedures, and varying polices on masking for students. These inconsistencies pose an ongoing threat to teachers, kids and their families.
As a direct result of the virus, the US has lost over 500 educators (K-12) during the past 12 months. Countless others have become disabled, sickened, and no longer to teach.
Many of these tragedies may have been prevented if both the kids and teachers had adequate access to masks.
World Micro and its subsidiary- MIT Distributors is announcing #TeachersCount, a program to get masks directly to teachers in need.
World Micro’s president & CEO, Dan Ellsworth commented, “Mask usage prevents the spread of COVID-19 and we know that some teachers are fearful for their lives in our schools today. Teachers didn’t sign up for ‘high risk jobs’ and many have not yet been prioritized for vaccination. Teachers need to sustain their families and be given the tools to do their jobs in a safe manner—even if 3-4 kids “forgot their mask” that day.
Ellsworth continued, “Although we cannot supply every teacher in every school system unlimited masks, the objective of our program is to arm teachers with a backup supply of masks in case a student is unable to bring his/ her own. We want teachers to feel safer, prevent at least 1 tragedy, and help kids learn.”
